Privacy in plain language
GeoFence uses precise location and related device signals to provide private circle maps, place alerts, driving insights, check-ins, and safety features. If you enable background location, collection continues when the app is closed or not in use. Your location is visible to members of circles you join. We do not sell precise location or personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
1. Scope and who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the GeoFence Android application, joingeofence.com, and related support services (together, the “Service”). “GeoFence,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean the GeoFence service operator identified in the applicable Google Play listing. This policy does not apply to websites or services that we do not control.
2. Information we collect

GeoFence does not request access to your contacts, microphone, call logs, SMS messages, advertising ID, or financial account information. If a future version begins collecting a new category, we will update this policy and provide any notice or consent required by law or Google Play.
3. How we use information
- Provide and maintain maps, circles, history, places, alerts, safe-arrival plans, SOS, and driving features.
- Authenticate users, enforce circle permissions and plan limits, prevent misuse, and protect the Service.
- Send service notifications requested by users, including arrival, departure, drive, account, check-in, and safety alerts.
- Diagnose failures, measure reliability, restore interrupted uploads, and improve performance.
- Comply with law, enforce our Terms of Service, and respond to valid legal process.
Where a law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our agreement with you, your consent for permission-controlled features, our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Service, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw permission-based consent through the app or Android settings, but affected features will stop working.
4. How circle sharing works
Circle members can see information shared within circles they belong to, which may include your name, profile image, last reported location and update time, activity status, battery status, places, alerts, and eligible driving information. Some alerts can be limited to selected circle members. Circle administrators may manage membership and circle settings but do not receive access to your GeoFence password.
Only join circles whose members you trust. A recipient may take screenshots or otherwise save information after it is displayed; GeoFence cannot control what another user does outside the Service.
We may disclose information in these limited situations:
- To your circles: as described above and as necessary to carry out check-ins, alerts, and safety features you enable.
- To service providers: Supabase-based authentication, database, realtime, and storage infrastructure; Google Maps Platform, Places, and Google Play services; and hosting or support providers that process data for us.
- For legal and safety reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, protect a person from serious harm, investigate fraud or abuse, or defend legal rights.
- Business changes: as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where required.
We do not sell personal information or precise location data. We do not disclose it to data brokers, insurers, or advertising networks for their own marketing or profiling.
6. Retention
- Current location: retained as the latest reported position until it is replaced or the account is deleted. An old location may remain visible with its last-updated time.
- Location history: retained for up to 30 days. The app exposes up to 2 days on Free, 7 days on Basic, 14 days on Plus, and 30 days on Family.
- Notification inbox: the app displays up to 2 days on Free and 7 days on paid plans. Underlying alert records may be kept longer when needed for delivery, abuse prevention, support, or account integrity.
- Drives, places, circle activity, and safety plans: kept while needed to provide the feature, maintain the account, meet plan limits, resolve disputes, or satisfy legal obligations.
- Diagnostics: pending crash reports are kept on the device for no more than 7 days. Uploaded diagnostics are kept only as long as reasonably needed to investigate reliability and security issues.
- Backups and legal records: deleted data may remain briefly in protected backups or records we must retain by law, and is not restored to the live Service except for disaster recovery.
Retention periods can be shorter when data is no longer needed. Account deletion is subject to the process in Section 8.
7. Security
We use safeguards designed for sensitive location data, including encrypted network transport, authenticated access, database access controls, private circle authorization, restricted profile-image access, and limited diagnostic payloads. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your password and circle invitation codes private, use a unique password, and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
8. Your choices and rights
- Permissions: change precise location, background location, physical activity, notifications, and alarm access in Android settings.
- Feature controls: change alert, driving, appearance, and optional safety-insight settings in GeoFence.
- Circle controls: leave a circle to stop future sharing with that circle. Leaving does not erase copies another member made outside GeoFence.
- Access or correction: review information displayed in the app and contact us to request access, correction, portability, or restriction where applicable.
- Deletion: use Settings → Account & Profile → Delete Account, or follow the instructions on our account deletion page. If you own a circle with other members, you may first need to resolve ownership or delete the circle. We may retain narrowly limited data where legally required or necessary to prevent fraud.
9. Children and family use
GeoFence accounts are not intended for children under 13, or a higher minimum age where local law requires it, unless the account and data processing are set up by a parent or legal guardian using a legally valid parental-consent process. A minor who is permitted to use GeoFence must do so with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian and every person being location-shared must be appropriately informed.
Parents and guardians may contact us to review or delete a minor’s information. GeoFence must not be used for hidden tracking, coercive control, or surveillance without lawful authority and informed consent.
10. International processing
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms and safeguards. Local privacy laws may provide rights in addition to those described here.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service or law changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice in the app or by email when a change is material and such notice is required. Continued use after the effective date means the updated policy applies, subject to any consent required by law.
